Turning up to an event in the same outfit as someone else might fill you with horror, but it appears the royal women coordinated their outfits last night, all stepping out in matching burgundy coats.

It’s been a turbulent time for the royal family, but they put on a united front last night, looking fun and festive in their coats.

The family arrived at Westminster Hall for a carol service, hosted by the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton.

Kate looked every inch the Christmas princess, dressed in a stunning bespoke calf-length coat-dress by London based designer, Eponine.

She paired the dress with matching burgundy heels and a clutch bag.

And the coat is as expensive as it looks. The brand only makes bespoke items, with prices starting at £3,000.

Mini-me Charlotte, seven, looked adorable in her own version of her mum’s outfit.

She also wore a burgundy coat, with hers made my British children’s brand, Trotters Heritage.

And Zara Philips, 41, wasn’t left out of the fashion memo, who arrived with her husband, Mike Tindall, wearing a coat of the same hue.

Finally Kate’s younger sister, Pippa, opted for burgundy too. She chose a velvet coat by Guinea London, and kept warm in a pair of coordinating boots.

The carol concert coincided with the release of more episodes of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s much discussed Netflix docu-series, in which they made bombshell claims about their treatment by the royal family.

It’s led to speculation that the royal women were trying to send some kind of message by all wearing the same colour.

The service was the first hosted by Kate since the Queen’s death, and since she became the Princess of Wales.

It was said to combine tradition with more modern elements, and a chance for people of all faiths – or none – to join together.

The service, Royal Carols: Together at Christmas, will then be shown on ITV on Christmas Eve.
