Save at least 10 cents per gallon with the newly enhanced Exxon Mobil Smart Card+

Save at least 10 cents per gallon with the newly enhanced Exxon Mobil Smart Card+

It’s always great to save on the purchases you make on a regular basis, and for many Americans, gas fits in that category. But whether you’re planning a road trip, commuting to work or just driving around town, saving on fuel can be as simple as having the right credit card.

The enhanced Exxon Mobil Smart Card+™ from ExxonMobil does just that, offering you instant savings of 10 cents off per gallon, right at the pump. If you buy premium gasoline, you’ll get 12 cents off per gallon — and new cardholders can enjoy even higher savings.

The card also earns 5% back in statement credits on in-store purchases and car washes (up to $1,200 in non-fuel purchases per year) at more than 12,000 Exxon and Mobil stations. Best of all, it has no annual fee.*

If one of these spots is your gas station of choice, here’s everything you need to know about this card.

What is the Exxon Mobil Smart Card+?

THE POINTS GUY

The Exxon Mobil Smart Card+ offers all cardholders 12 cents off per gallon savings on Synergy Supreme+ premium gasoline and 10 cents off per gallon savings on all other grades of fuel at participating Exxon and Mobil gas stations.

However, new cardholders can earn an additional 30 cents off per gallon — up to 42 cents off per gallon in total, depending on the grade of gasoline — for the first two months after opening an account. These savings could come in handy for holiday road trips to see family and friends.

Additionally, cardholders will automatically enjoy 5% back in statement credits on in-store purchases and car washes (up to $1,200 in non-fuel purchases every year).

Finally, you can stack these per-gallon discounts with applicable offers from ExxonMobil partners — including grocery rewards discounts from brands like Albertsons, Safeway and Shaw’s at participating locations.

How does it work?

If you apply today and are approved, you can start enjoying these discounts as soon as your new card arrives. The base discounts per gallon — 12 cents for premium and 10 cents for other grades — will be automatically reflected in the price at the pump. The additional savings for the first two months will then be applied as a statement credit (30 cents per gallon purchased).

However, if the discounts aren’t reflected at the pump for some reason, they’ll still be reflected on your monthly statement as a credit. Meanwhile, the 5% back on in-store purchases and car washes (up to $1,200 in non-fuel purchases per year) will come as a statement credit at the end of every month.

Note that cardholders can still pay for their fuel with the Exxon Mobil Rewards+ app by loading the Exxon Mobil Smart Card+ in order to enjoy these savings per gallon. However, fuel purchases made with the card no longer earn additional points in the Exxon Mobil Rewards+ program, and they won’t count toward Premium Status. That said, if you have existing points, you can combine those with the Exxon Mobil Smart Card+ when paying for your gas.

Bottom line

The Exxon Mobil Smart Card+ from ExxonMobil gives cardholders 12 cents off per gallon on Synergy Supreme+ premium gasoline at participating Exxon and Mobil stations, and cardholders can enjoy 10 cents off per gallon on all other grades of gasoline.

For a limited time, new cardholders can also receive an additional 30 cents off per gallon — up to 42 cents per gallon in total — for the first two months of account opening.

If you’re planning travel for this holiday season and are concerned about the impact of gas prices on your wallet, don’t wait. Apply today, and upon approval, you can start saving at the pump.
