CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Clarksville-Montgomery County Branch #5582 of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People hosted their 66th annual Freedom Fund Banquet at the CMCSS South Complex Saturday evening.
More than 125 people were in attendance for the event with the theme “Good Trouble Today for a Better Tomorrow.” The evening featured dinner, live music and the presentation of awards. The Guest speaker was the Rev. Angela Jones, pastor of Greenhill Church & Christian Outreach Ministries.
“Tonight, showed that the people in this community support the NAACP, and I hope it is because they know that the NAACP will support them,” said Jimmie Garland, president of the Clarksville Branch of the NAACP.
“We thank every person that bought a ticket, whether they came or not, because every dime you put into your local NAACP is a dime that will come back to you when it comes to advocacy.”
