Meghan Markle literally dazzled on the red carpet last night, when she paired her custom Louis Vuitton gown with a poignant piece of jewellery.

The 41-year-old wore a large aquamarine ring which once belonged to her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana.

The huge emerald-cut ring, from British designer, Asprey, is said to be worth an eye-watering amount of around £75,000.

Meghan stepped out with her husband, Prince Harry last night, to attend the Ripple of Hope Gala in New York, where they were being honoured for their activism work.

Princess Diana was often seen wearing the attention-grabbing ring, which she is believed to have commissioned herself to match an existing aquamarine and pearl bracelet.

The late Princess first wore the ring in 1996 during a trip to Australia, and she was also pictured wearing it in 1997, at a private viewing and reception at Christies in aid of the Aid Crisis Trust.

The statement piece is likely to be extra special for Megan, 41, as she was seen wearing it for the first time in May 2018, at her wedding reception, when she and Prince Harry waved to the crowds from the blue Jaguar E-Type as they left Frogmore Cottage.

And it’s not the only piece of his mother’s jewellery that Prince Harry is thought to have gifted his wife.

The Duchess’s engagement ring was made using two diamonds that once belonged to Diana, along with a larger stone that Prince Harry sourced from Botswana – a special place to the couple as it’s where they went on one of their first holidays together.

The Asprey ring was the perfect accessory for Meghan’s floor length gown that featured an off the shoulder neckline and thigh side split. She also wore her hair in a slick, low bun, every inch the ‘clean girl’ aesthetic.

Kate Middleton, who is currently in America with Prince William has also been displayed bold jewellery choices during her trip.

On her arrival across the pond she wore a pair of diamond and sapphire drop earrings, also once owned by Princess Diana.

And, when visiting Harvard University, she wore a pair of custom-made gold hoops by British designer, Lenique Lewis, who received a Prince’s Trust grant to start her business.
