COLDER temperatures are here which means it’s time to dig out the winter wardrobe – but some things should stay away for good.
For autumn/ winter, little changes from year to year in terms of trends and staples you need to get you through the season.

For example you can always rely on a winter floral and a knee high boot, but there are a few pieces that have had their day and should be shunned to the back of your wardrobe or be sent to the charity shop.

Knitted tights creep out of the lingerie drawer when the mercury plummets, but unless you’re skipping off to primary school you shouldn’t be seen in knitted tights.
They had their heyday in the seventies and when we were children but these days technology has moved on.

Faux fur trimmed boots
Fur trimmed boots are also a thing of the past according to pro Clemmie[/caption]
While most noughties trends are having a resurgence, one that, thankfully, hasn’t made a comeback is faux fur lined boots.

Beit poking out of the top of Uggs or fringed down the side of a knee-high, fluffy boots haven’t made the Y2K cut.
But you don’t have to feel like your feet are freezing this winter, look out for styles with fleece lining for extra warmth and a soft touch under foot.

Cardigan come blanket, the hybrid knit has its uses in winter for giving you that wrapped up and cosy feel.
However, their look hasn’t been seen on a catwalk or high street for some time and shouldn’t be making an appearance on you this winter either.

As a transitional alternative try a Borg jacket.
They have the soft feel and warmth of a fleece but the sturdiness of a jacket, and they are a hit with designers and influencers a like. Win-win.
