Breeze adds 22 new and returning routes to its schedule for 2023

Breeze Airways is back in growth mode.

The airline this week announced 22 new and returning routes for 2023, covering a total of 14 cities. Eight of the routes appeared to be new, while 14 were restorations of seasonal or suspended service.

Among the new routes will be a new longest flight for Breeze, with twice-weekly service between Providence, Rhode Island (PVD), and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) starting May 19 — 2,592 miles, according to GCMap. The current longest route in Breeze’s network, Westchester County Airport (HPN) in White Plains to LAX, comes in at 2,477 miles.

The airline announced several new flights last month, including service from John Wayne Airport in Orange County, California (SNA), its 34th city. This week’s announcement includes one new route from Orange County: thrice-weekly service from Cincinnati starting. The announcement did not include any new cities, only new routes between existing cities.

Breeze will operate the flights with a mix of Embraer E190 and E195 regional jets and its new Airbus A220-300 fleet. The A220s feature both extra legroom and first-class seats (those seats can be purchased as an upgrade, and are also included with Breeze’s “Nicest” fare product). The first-class seats offer generous recline and built-in legrests, a rarity for a domestic first-class product.

Breeze launched last year by operating short flights of less than two hours with a fleet of Embraer jets leased from Azul in Brazil, which Neeleman also founded. The A220 that the carrier has since added to its fleet has the range to connect any two cities in the continental U.S., allowing Breeze to expand and operate longer-range routes between smaller airports.

The new routes are listed below. The list includes new “BreezThru” routes added to schedule. Those routes feature one-stop, same-plane service between two cities that allow passengers to remain on board during the stop.

Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) to:

Columbus, OH (CMH) to:
