Andre Silva offers a blunt response to Ronaldo transfer questions
Despite reports of CR7’s future dominating headlines, Andre Silva insists they’re of no concern to him or his Portugal teammates.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s future isn’t of any concern to the Portuguese national team, according to teammate Andre Silva.
The latest CR7 transfer saga has recently taken a new twist, with reports claiming the former Manchester United forward has an offer worth almost €200 million a season to join Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr on a three-and-a-half year deal.
But while Ronaldo has asked the media to not question his Portugal teammates about him, they’ve continued to do so, with Silva being the latest in line on Wednesday.
“Does the market end tomorrow? Oh, just checking,” the RB Leipzig striker said in a press conference.
“Those questions concern nobody apart from Ronaldo. It does not affect the group at all. In Ronaldo’s case, he is a very experienced player and knows very well how to deal with these kinds of situations. The group is not affected at all.”
CR7 remains vital for Portugal
Despite Ronaldo’s unceremonious end to his second spell at Manchester United, and the fact he is 37, Silva insists the captain’s worth remains as high as ever for Portugal.
“Regarding Ronaldo, Cristiano is our captain. He is a very, if not the most important figure in Portuguese football,” Silva added.
“Of course, it’s very important to be on our side and it makes the group stronger too.”
Portugal, who have qualified for the last-16 stage of the World Cup, will play South Korea on Friday for their final Group H match.
